Culture Compass to Include Culture in All EU Discussions, Kassianidou Says

Brussels: The development of the Culture Compass of the EU will be an opportunity for culture to be discussed on all levels and connected to current priorities, Deputy Minister for Culture, Vasiliki Kassianidou, said upon her arrival to the Education, Youth, Culture and Sports Council in its culture configuration, taking place in Brussels on Tuesday.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the Deputy Minister highlighted that the Culture Compass, currently being prepared by the European Commission, will bring discussions on culture to all levels, addressing issues such as cohesion, democracy, the green transition, and digital transformation. She emphasized that the initiative will also serve as a means of supporting the creative sector. The Culture Compass is anticipated to be published by the Commission before the end of the year.

Kassianidou also discussed the future of Creative Europe, describing it as a crucial programme that supports the creative industries. She expressed Cyprus’s interest in supporting its continuation and ensuring its application is based on equal opportunities for all.

Additionally, the Deputy Minister mentioned that the agenda includes a discussion and the adoption of a report prepared by the Polish Presidency on the support of young artists. This report was previously discussed in an informal meeting in Warsaw.
