Limassol: Foreign nationals arrived in Cyprus on Wednesday from Israel aboard the cruise ship Crown Iris, which on Thursday is scheduled to dock at the port of Limassol to pick up Israeli citizens who want to return to their country.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the Crown Iris departed from Haifa on Tuesday and docked on Wednesday at the port of Larnaca, carrying approximately 1,500 foreign nationals. Foreign news agencies report that these individuals participated in the Jewish heritage programme ‘Birthright Israel’.

On Thursday, the Crown Iris, which is participating in the “Safe Return” operation, is expected to arrive at the port of Limassol to collect around 1,600 Israelis currently in Cyprus who wish to return to their country.

Later this week, the cruise ship, which can carry up to 2,000 passengers, is expected to make another trip from Haifa to the port of Limassol, with the possibility of replacing it with a larger capacity cruise ship, according to the same sources.
