Nicosia: The Republic of Cyprus conveys the messages that emerge from all contacts, at all levels, on the need to avoid further escalation of tensions and the mobilisation of diplomacy to find solutions and resolve differences, said Government Spokesperson Konstantinos Letymbiotis, in relation to President Christodoulides’ contacts amidst developments in the Middle East.
According to Cyprus News Agency, Letymbiotis emphasized that this message is consistently communicated during all interactions, underscoring its importance to those directly involved and highlighting the European Union’s potential role in the matter. “This message is common to all our contacts and we are conveying it clearly to all interlocutors. Especially to those directly involved. Especially to the EU, which can and must play a role,” he told CNA.
As an EU member state and a country that maintains excellent relations with all countries in the region, conveying these messages is part of the stabilising role that Cyprus can play, Letymbiotis concluded.
