Construction Materials Prices See Yearly Increase of 1.34% in May 2025

Nicosia: The Price Index of Construction Materials for May 2025 reached 118.92 units (base year 2021=100), marking an increase of 1.34% compared to May 2024, as reported by the Statistical Service on Wednesday. This rise highlights ongoing changes in the costs associated with construction materials over the past year.

According to Cyprus News Agency, there was a marginal decrease of 0.09% in the index when compared to April 2025. For the period from January to May 2025, the index showed an overall increase of 1.23% compared to the same timeframe in 2024, indicating a steady rise in construction material costs.

The data also revealed variations across different commodity categories. Comparing May 2025 to May 2024, there were increases in minerals (3.65%), mineral products (3.47%), and products of wood, insulation materials, chemicals, and plastics (0.48%). Electromechanical products also saw a slight increase of 0.37%. However, the category of metallic products experienced a decrease of 0.74%, indicating a shift in pricing trends for certain materials.
