Committee of Regions Bureau Convenes in Nicosia for Key Discussions

Nicosia: The 238th Bureau meeting of the Committee of the Regions is set to take place in Nicosia on Tuesday, February 10, as a significant event in the official program of the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the EU 2026. The meeting, scheduled at the Conference Centre in Nicosia, is poised to address pressing regional issues and innovations.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the EU announced that the meeting will commence at 08:30 with a welcome address delivered by notable figures including the President of the Committee of the Regions, Kata Ttto, the President of the Union of Cyprus Municipalities, Andreas Vyras, and the Minister of Interior, Constantinos Ioannou. The latter will speak on behalf of the President of the Republic. This will be followed by statements to the media from both the Committee President and the Minister of Interior at 09:00.

The agenda of the meeting will focus on discussions around digital innovation, research, blue technology, and the development of resilient regions. Emphasis will be placed on the critical role of local and regional authorities in fostering solutions and safeguarding communities. As stated in the press release, these discussions aim to highlight the significance of community-led initiatives in tackling regional challenges.

Furthermore, the Union of Cyprus Municipalities announced that the meeting is currently underway at Nicosia City Hall. It will culminate in an extraordinary meeting of the Conference of Presidents scheduled for 17:00 at the same venue, marking a pivotal moment for regional collaboration and strategic planning.
