Doha: The Minister of Energy, Commerce and Industry, George Papanastasiou, has arrived in Doha to represent the President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, at the Qatar Economic Forum. The international business and investment conference is scheduled to take place from 20 to 22 May 2025.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the Ministry of Energy reported that during the opening of the conference, Papanastasiou met with Sheikh Faisal Thani Al Thani, Qatar’s Minister of Commerce and Industry. They discussed enhancing trade and investment relations between Cyprus and Qatar. The dialogue also included potential initiatives to foster collaboration between the business sectors of both nations. Papanastasiou was informed about plans for a business mission to Qatar, organized through the Cyprus Trade Centre in Dubai, in the latter half of 2025.
Further engagements are planned for Papanastasiou, including meetings with the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s leadership and the Qatari Businessmen Association. The Minister is expected to return to Cyprus on Thursday, 22 May 2025.
