The leaders of the ruling coalition, Premier Giorgia Meloni, Deputy Premier and Transport Minister Matteo Salvini, Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, and Maurizio Lupi announced in a joint statement on Wednesday that the centre-right candidate for Liguria governor is Marco Bucci, the current mayor of Genoa. The regional elections in Liguria, to be held after former governor Giovanni Toti stepped down over a corruption probe, are scheduled to take place on October 27-28. Bucci's main rival will be former justice minister Andrea Orlando who is backed by a broad centre-left coalition. Source: Ansa News Agency
