ANKARA: Spanish La Liga leaders Barcelona won at Villarreal 5-1 to continue their perfect run in the league but they lost German goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen to injury on Sunday.

Polish star Robert Lewandowski and Brazil winger Raphinha scored twice each for Barcelona at Villarreal’s home Estadio de la Ceramica. Barcelona midfielder Pablo Torre was also on the scoresheet.

Hansi Flick’s men have showed a stellar performance at Villarreal to have six wins in six games in the league.

Spanish forward Ayoze Perez was the only scorer for Villarreal.

Barcelona secured three points with a large win but were dismayed over ter Stegen’s injury.

Ter Stegen, who joined Barcelona from Germany’s Borussia Monchengladbach in 2014, fell awkwardly after catching a ball from a corner kick in the first half.

His injury might be serious as the 32-year-old, who amassed 420 Barcelona appearances, was carried off on a stretcher.

Barcelona increased their points to 18 in the league. They scored 22 goals and conceded five in
six appearances.

Fifth-place Villarreal have 11 points.

Barcelona’s nearest opponents in standings Real Madrid beat Espanyol 4-1 on Saturday to have 14 points.
