Syros: Associate Professor Pavlos Stephanou of the Cyprus University of Technology (CUT) received the inaugural ‘Tasos C. Papanastasiou Award’ for his contribution to the field of rheology. The award ceremony took place on June 10, 2025, during the 11th Meeting of the Hellenic Society of Rheology (HSR) on the island of Syros.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the award was established by the Hellenic Society of Rheology and the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry to honor the legacy of the late Professor Tasos C. Papanastasiou, a renowned scientist and pioneer in the field. The award coincides with the 30th anniversary of Professor Papanastasiou’s passing and is intended to inspire and support future generations in the discipline.
The event featured key figures in the field, including Professor Vlassis Mavrantzas, PhD advisor to Stephanou and Chair of HSR2025, as well as other distinguished members of the award committee. The ceremony also had personal significance, with Professor Yiangos Papanastasiou and Professor Panos Papanastasiou, the son and brother of the late Tasos C. Papanastasiou, respectively, attending the event.
