Armenian President conveys support to Cyprus to first Cypriot Ambassador in Yerevan

President of Armenia, Vahagn Khachaturyan, has expressed his gratitute to Cyprus for its strong support, as well as his country’s support as regards the efforts to reach a just and viable solution to the Cyprus problem.

According to an official press release, the Armenian President received recently the credentials of the first accredited Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus in Armenia, based in Yerevan.

President Khachaturyan thanked the Cypriot Government for its strong support to Armenia at all levels, including within the EU. He also reiterated his country’s support in the efforts to reach a just and sustainable solution to the Cyprus problem. Moreover, he expressed satisfaction with the establishment of an Embassy in Yerevan, and said that Armenia will work to further strengthen the cooperation and friendship with Cyprus.

that was held at the Presidential Palace on October 21, 2024.

He conveyed the greetings of President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, and assured the President of Armenia of the commitment of the Cypriot Government to the upgrading of bilateral relations and the further strengthening of the traditional bonds of friendship that connect the two countries.

Moreover, he described the day as historic, saying that it marks the opening of the first Embassy of the Republic of Cyprus in Yerevan.

The Ambassador reiterated the principled position of Cyprus for the respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all states, noting Cyprus’ long-standing support to the efforts of the Armenia for a sustainable peace in the region. Furthermore, he said that Cyprus strongly supports the further deepening of Armenia’s relations with the European Union.

The Cypriot Ambassador also informed the Armenian President about the latest developments in the Cyprus issue and the ongoing efforts of Cyprus for
a solution to the Cyprus problem, based on the relevant Resolutions of the United Nations Security Council.
