Nicosia: Industrial production in Cyprus saw a 2.5% increase on an annual basis in May 2026, maintaining its upward trend from previous months. This follows a series of fluctuations earlier in the year, with production remaining stable on a monthly basis in May, after a slight increase of 0.1% in April. January and March saw rises of 1.7% and 1.6% respectively, while February experienced a decrease of 2.3% and December 2025 had a drop of 1.5%.
According to Cyprus News Agency, data released by Eurostat highlighted that the annual growth rate in May matched the 2.5% increase recorded in March, although it was slightly below the 4.1% peak observed in January. February remained a challenging month with a decline of 1.8%.
Eurostat's preliminary figures also indicated a decline in seasonally adjusted industrial production in May 2026, with a decrease of 0.2% in the euro area and 0.1% in the EU, compared to April. In contrast, April had shown modest increases of 0.3% in the euro area and 0.2% in the EU. On an annual comparison with May 2025, there was a general decline of 1.2% in the euro area and 0.3% in the EU, underscoring the relative strength of Cyprus's industrial sector amidst broader regional challenges.
