‘Ankara Is a Liability for the U.S. and NATO’, Says PSEKA

Ankara: PSEKA, the International Coordinating Committee Justice for Cyprus, expressed its objection in a letter to the State Department regarding the wording the latter used that Turkey is a ‘long-standing NATO ally with a history of making important contributions.’

According to Cyprus News Agency, in its response to a bipartisan letter signed by 40 members of Congress, the State Department also reiterated its commitment to comply with U.S. law, which prohibits the sale of F-35 fighter jets to Turkey. PSEKA notes that ‘the invasion and continued occupation of 37% of the Republic of Cyprus, Ankara’s actions in Syria, Armenia and Libya, the acquisition of Russian S-400 missiles, as well as its relations with the Islamic State and Hamas, make Turkey a liability.’

PSEKA calls on the Trump administration to put pressure on Ankara to behave as a reliable ally and not as an ‘enemy’ of the United States.
