Weekend’s temperatures, highest for July in the last 30 years

Extremely high temperatures hit Cyprus during the last weekend (1-2 July 2017), which are the highest ever recorded for July in the last 30 years.

According to a press release by the Meteorology Department, on 1 July the daily maximum temperature at Pafos airport was 41.6C, while on 2 July the daily maximum temperature at Athalassa was 44.6C, at Lemesos port 41.4C, at Paralimni 41.9C and at Prodromos 36.7C.

All the above maximum temperatures are the highest ever recorded for July over the last 30 years the press release says.

It adds that they are also the highest temperatures ever recorded for all months over the last 30 years, except the maximum temperature at Athalassa, which was the second highest (first highest 45.6C on 1st of August 2010).
