House President Demetris Syllouris has assured of the parliaments will to safeguard the principles and values enshrined by the UN Security Council resolutions and high-level agreements on the Cyprus issue, declaring “our attachment to the international law and the acquis communautaire principles”.

Speaking before the House plenary, on Friday, about the 56th anniversary of Cyprus independence, Syllouris said that “we ask for something which is self-evident, the restoration of the human rights and the basic freedoms of our people, Greek Cypriots, Turkish Cypriots, Armenians, Maronites and Latins.”

He said that the House of Representatives pays tribute “to those who fought heroically for the independence of our homeland.
