Vehicle registrations record annual drop of 13.2% in July

Total motor vehicle registrations dropped by 13.2% in July 2022, compared to July 2021, according to the report entitled “Registration of Motor Vehicles” issued by the Statistical Service of Cyprus.

In particular, in July 2022, the total registrations of motor vehicles numbered 2,988, compared to 3,443 in July 2021. Passenger saloon cars registered a fall of 14.2% to 2,326, from 2,712 in July 2021.

During the period January-July 2022 compared to the corresponding period of 2021 the total registrations of motor vehicles decreased by 6.3% to 20,685, from 22,074.

In the same period, passenger saloon cars decreased to 16,427 from 16,979 in January-July 2021, recording a fall of 3.3%. Of the total passenger saloon cars, 7,240 or 44.1% were new and 9,187 or 55.9% were used cars. Rental cars in particular recorded a rise of 86.2% to 2,878.

Motor coaches and buses registered in January-July 2022 increased to 47, from 38 in the same period of 2021, while goods conveyance vehicles decreased by 11.2% to 2,252 in January-July 2022, compared to 2,535.

Finally, mopeds < 50cc registered in January-July 2022 increased to 179 compared to 166 in the corresponding period of the previous year, but motorcycles > 50cc decreased by 25.6% to 1,562 in January-July 2022, compared to 2,100 in January-July 2021.
