The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its satisfaction regarding the decision of the US State Department to proceed with the total lifting of the arms embargo against the Republic of Cyprus.
In a statement, the Ministry noted that the Republic of Cyprus welcomes this decision, which is a result of the fulfilment of all the requirements put forward by the “Eastern Mediterranean Security and Energy Partnership Act” voted by the US Congress in 2019.
“This is a milestone decision that reaffirms the strengthening of bilateral relations between Cyprus and USA in the fields of security and defense, a strategic partnership cooperation, based on International Law and the necessity to create conditions for security and stability in the turbulent geographical region of the Eastern Mediterranean basin”.
