The US supports the UN Security Council resolutions on Famagusta and the US Ambassador in Cyprus assured on Thursday a delegation of the Famagusta Municipality that US President, Joe Biden, will exert pressure on Turkey about the issue of the fenced off city of Varosha, Famagusta Mayor, Simos Ioannou, has told CNA.
A Famagusta Municipality delegation had on Thursday separate meetings with the US Ambassador, Judith Garber, and the Ambassador of Greece in Cyprus, Theocharis Lalakos.
Ioannou told CNA that they asked Garber to convey to the US President and the State Secretary the message that great pressure must be exerted on Turkey to change its stance on the issue of Famagusta.
