Uruguay wishes to strengthen cooperation with Cyprus in trade sector

The willingness of the government of Uruguay to further strengthen the cooperation with Cyprus, especially in the field of trade, was expressed by the country’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Rodolfo Nin Novoa, during the presentation of credentials by Cyprus’ new Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus to the Oriental Republic of Uruguay, resident in Brasilia, Haralambos Kafkarides, to President Tabare Vazquez.

According to a press release, during the ceremony which took place in Montevideo on November 29, Kafkarides highlighted the strong level of bilateral relations between the two countries.

During a subsequent conversation with Novoa, the Cypriot Ambassador expressed his appreciation for Uruguays positive stance on the Cyprus question, as demonstrated both by Uruguay’s participation in the past in UNFICYP and during its recent term as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council during the period 2016-2017.
