The 21st edition of the EURegionsWeek under the motto New Challenges for Europe’s cohesion is ready to take off. In a press release, the European Committee of Regions calls on all interested parties to get ready to exchange ideas, meet regions and cities around Europe, expand their network and knowledge and most of all learn all they need to know about the latest news on regional and cohesion policies. ‘From informal networking throughout the Agora’s exhibition and regional tastings to informative and participatory sessions – come and see what this edition of the EURegionsWeek has in store for you,’ the press release says. Registrations are open until September 30 and the Regions Week will take place in Brussels from 9 to 12 October. The #EURegionsWeek connects thousands of politicians, academics, experts, citizens, and journalists passionate about EU policies and their impact on every region and city in Europe and the event is attended each year by around 10 000 local, regional, national, and European decision-makers, both online and in-person, from different countries in the EU and beyond. The list of speakers includes the European Commissioner for Cohesion and Reforms, Elisa Ferreira, the President of the European Committee of the Regions, Vasco Alves Cordeiro, and the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola. Less than one year before the European elections, the #EURegionsWeek will be a crucial opportunity to examine how regions and cities are playing an indispensable role in the Europe’s strategy to overcome recent crisis such as the COVID-19 pandemic, the end of dependence on Russian fossil fuels and the impact of the war in Ukraine, the press release reads. The opening press conference will be taking place on the 9 October in the morning and will be attended by Commissioner for Cohesion and Reforms Elisa Ferreira and the President of the Committee of the Regions Vasco Alves Cordeiro. The media programme includes the presentation of a new Eurobarometer on Cohesion Policy and the 2023 Report on the State of Regions and Cities with engaging exchanges among local and regional politicians from all over Europe.
