The seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate in Cyprus remained stable at 12.1% in August 2016, according to a flash estimate by Eurostat, ranking 4th largest in the EU, but also deescalating at the second fastest pace (from 14.7% in August 2015 to 12.1%). The rate was 12.4% in May, dropped to 12.2% in June and 12.1% in July (51,000 individuals).
The same rate for the Euro Area was 10.1% in August 2016, stable compared to July 2016 and down from 10.7% in August 2015. This remains the lowest rate recorded in the Euro Area since July 2011.
The EU28 unemployment rate was 8.6% in August 2016, stable compared to July 2016 and down from 9.3% in August 2015. This remains the lowest rate recorded in the EU28 since March 2009.
