Unemployment declined by 13.3% in June

The number of unemployed persons decreased last June by 13.3%, compared to June 2016, says the Statistical Service of the Republic of Cyprus.

According to CyStat, data from the District Labour Offices show that the number of unemployed by the end of June 2017 stood at 30,577 people.

According to the seasonally adjusted data, unemployment in June 2017 decreased to 33,631 people, compared to 34,170 last month.

The year on year decrease is attributed to the decline of unemployment in the public sector by 1,377 people, in construction by 1,143, in commerce by 679, in processing by 496 and in the financial and insurance sector by 288.
