UN spokesperson avoids commenting on leaked Crans Montana documents, refers journalists to SG’s closing remarks

Stéphane Dujarric, Spokesperson for the United Nations Secretary-General, said he would not comment on the confidential UN documents released by Cypriot daily “O Phileleftheros” in recent days, and referred to the SG’s remarks on the meetings at Crans Montana.

Invited by a journalist to comment on the documents that the SG was aware before the last working dinner at Crans Montana in July 207 that Turkey was unwilling to withdraw its troops and guarantees from the island and that he failed to inform President of the Republic of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades, questioning the SG’s objectivity, Dujarric said he was aware of the references regarding the so-called documents that were leaked.

He further declined to comment on the contents or their authenticity.
