Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his Serbian counterpart Aleksandar Vucic met on Sunday in Hungary for talks. During the closed-door meeting, Erdogan and Vucic discussed bilateral relations, and regional issues. Saying that he sees Serbia as a “key country” for peace and stability in the Balkans, Erdogan noted Trkiye-Serbia relations have reached the highest point in history. Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar, Youth and Sports Minister Osman Askin Bak, Industry and Technology Minister Mehmet Fatih Kacir, Trade Minister Omer Bolat, Communications Director Fahrettin Altun, and Erdogan’s chief advisers Akif Cagatay Kilic and Sabri Demir were also present at the meeting. Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban invited the presidents to the capital Budapest to attend Hungary’s founding day celebrations. Trkiye sees Serbia as an important country for the stability of the region and supports its integration with the EU. Bilateral ties with Serbia are progressing positively, and commercial and economic relations are developing with strong momentum. The Trkiye-Serbia High-level Cooperation Council was established in 2017.
