Turkish occupied municipalities donate to quake victims in Syria and Turkey fund

The Committee of Cyprus Occupied Municipalities handed over on Thursday a check of 2,000 euro to the Pancyprian Volunteerism Coordinative Council as a symbolic contribution of the occupied municipalities to the victims of the recent deadly earthquakes in Syria and Turkey. The Committee of Occupied Municipalities was represented by the Mayor of Lapithos, Neoptolemos Kotsapa, Mayor of Akanthous, Eleni Hatzimichael and Mayor of Karava, Nikos Hadjistefanou. The check was received by President of the Council, Elias Demetriou. The Mayors stressed that human suffering knows neither borders nor nationalities adding that the refugees of Cyprus know first hand what it feels to lose your home or your beloved ones. Receiving the check, Demetriou expressed his gratitude to the Committee, saying that their contribution will be included in the amount of the national fund which will be allocated within the framework of the European mechanism for humanitarian aid.
