Turkey continues to mock the international community, Greek Foreign Ministry says

The Turkish Foreign Ministry’s statement following Greek Foreign Minister’s statements on the Conference on Cyprus, proves Turkey’s audacity and its responsibilities regarding the collapse of the talks, a Greek FM Spokesperson has said.

Turkey continues to mock the international community by making statements which prove that its audacity has no limits, the spokesperson of the Greek Foreign Ministry Stratos Efthymiou says.

Greek Foreign Ministry spokesperson also points out that Turkey has even reached the point of labeling its intransigence during the Conference on Cyprus in Crans Montana as “constructive spirit”.

Commenting on the statement made by the Turkish Foreign Minister saying that Turkey could not accept a “foolish proposal” providing for the abolition of the right of unilateral intervention and guarantees and the withdrawal of Turkish occupation troops from Cyprus within a timetable, Efthymiou said that this new cynical confession of the Turkish Foreign Minister is the biggest proof of Turkeys clear responsibilities for the impasse reached at the Cyprus Conference and the collapse of the talks.

Cyprus has been divided since 1974 when Turkish troops invaded and occupied its northern part. UN-backed talks that took place on June 28-July 7, in Crans-Montana, Switzerland, ended inconclusively. Peace talks aim to reunite Cyprus under a federal roof.
