Trilateral ministerial meeting of Cyprus, Greece and Jordan underway in Nicosia

The trilateral ministerial meeting among Cyprus, Greece and Jordan is underway at the Presidential Palace in Nicosia.

Prior to the meeting, the Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Minister of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Ayman Al Safadi, and the Alternate Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece, George Katrougkalos, were received by Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades.

Foreign Minister, Nikos Christodoulides, also participated in the meeting with Anastasiades. Christodoulides had earlier a bilateral meeting with Katrougkalos at the Foreign Ministry. He will also hold a bilateral meeting with his Jordanian counterpart in the afternoon. Bilateral relations, the latest developments in the Cyprus problem and issues regarding Cyprus’ EEZ are, among others, on the agenda of these meetings.

The aim of the trilateral meeting of Cyprus, Greece and Jordan is to review progress achieved in the framework of cooperation among the three countries, coordinate the next steps and this cooperations possible expansion in new fields of common interest, such as Education and Innovation. It will also prepare the three countries Trilateral Summit which will take place in Jordan in the first half of 2019.

The trilateral meeting in Nicosia is taking place with the participation of delegations of the three Foreign Ministries. Consultations will continue during a working lunch of the Ministers and their delegations. The three Ministers will make statements to the press at 14.15 (1215 GMT) at the Presidential Palace.
