Transport Minister says the aim is for Cyprus to become an aviation junction

The government’s aim is for Cyprus to become a modern aviation junction, Minister for Transport, Communications and Works Vasiliki Anastasiadou said on Thursday, adding that her Ministry was ready to contribute in order for Cyprus to advance even further.

Speaking in the framework of the Cyprus Aviation Symposium 2018 in Larnaca, Anastasiadou said much has already been achieved in the field of aviation but noted there was still room for improvement.

President of the Federation of Employers and Industrialists Christos Michaelides said Cyprus needed to develop its connections, adding that the Symposium gave the opportunity to upgrade the country to an aviation junction and thus enhance the economy.

President of the Larnaca Chamber of Commerce and Industry Stavros Stavrou said aviation was not restricted to take-offs and landings, but was a whole system of services which provided immense opportunities for investments in Cyprus.

Q4 Aviation CEO Antonis Theodorides said Cyprus had the guarantees, support, infrastructure, and know-how to support such a venture, which inter alia would offer services to foreign airlines and facilitate the registration of planes and companies.
