Through common effort Cyprus will be year-round tourist destination, President says

Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades has expressed his conviction that through the common effort of both private and public sector Cyprus will become an attractive and competitive tourist destination all year-round.

Anastasiades, who was addressing a hotel and mall opening event in the coastal city of Larnaka (Radisson Blu hotel) also pledged that by the end of his term in office (in 2023) Larnaka will have the image envisioned by all its residents. To this extent he referred to all the ongoing development projects.

Referring in particular to the Larnaka port and marina project, he said that a bid is expected to be submitted by an interested party, which will be reviewed by the relevant ministry.

I am convinced that through the common effort of the public and the private sector, tourism will continue to be enhanced, despite strong competition within the international environment, and Cyprus will become a global attractive and competitive destination, not just for seasonal but also for all year-round tourism, he stressed.

President Anastasiades spoke of how investments in the hotel industry help Cyprus gain an advantage vis-A�-vis traditionally competitive countries and referred to tax and financial incentives offered to hotels which have boosted an upgrade of the tourist industry.

To that extent he referred to an increase of bed capacity to 104,000 as well as pushing through with investments on new projects which have either been completed or are underway such a casino � resort, marinas, hotel and golf resorts which improve the visitors’ experience and Cyprus’ tourist product in practice.
