The President of the Republic, Mr Nicos Anastasiades, leaves tomorrow at noon for Valletta, Malta, where on 3 February he will participate in the Informal EU heads of state or government Summit.
The Summit, which will begin in the morning of 3 February, will address, inter alia, issues related to the external aspects of Migration with emphasis on the migration flow in the Central Mediterranean. Subsequently, the heads of state or government will adopt the Declaration of Malta, the content of which will concern Migration.
President Anastasiades will also attend a working lunch during which the broader approach on migration is expected to be discussed, and there will be an exchange of views on the latest international political developments.
In the afternoon, the heads of state or governments of the EU will discuss the Future of Europe in view of the anniversary Summit Conference in Rome for the commemoration of 60 years since the signing of the Treaty of Rome.
The President of the Republic, who will return to Cyprus in the afternoon of 4 February, will be accompanied by the Deputy Government Spokesman Mr Viktoras Papadopoulos and other officials.
