The President of the Republic, Mr Nicos Anastasiades, leaves tomorrow, 9 April 2017, for Madrid, Spain, where he will participate in the heads of state or government Summit of the seven Southern European Union countries that will take place on 10 April 2017.
On the sidelines of the Summit, in the morning of 10 April, the President of the Republic will meet separately with the Prime Minister of Spain, Mr Mariano Rajoy, at the Prime Minister’s Office. Later on, the President will attend a working lunch with the other leaders of the Southern EU member states at the Palacio Real del Pardo. The leaders will make remarks to the Media after the lunch.
Brexit and the Future of Europe will be among the issues that will be discussed at the Summit. During the deliberations of the Summit the President of the Republic will have the opportunity to brief the leaders on the latest developments on the Cyprus problem.
President Anastasiades will be accompanied in Madrid by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Ioannis Kasoulides, and the Government Spokesman, Mr Nikos Christodoulides.
The President of the Republic will return to Cyprus in the morning of 11 April 2017.
