The President of the Republic had a telephone communication with the Vice President-elect of the United States

The President of the Republic, Mr Nicos Anastasiades had, today December 1, 2016 in the afternoon, a telephone communication with the Vice President-elect of the United States, Mr Mike Pence.

During their conversation, Mr Pence conveyed the warm greetings of President-elect Donald Trump and expressed the new US administration’s desire to further deepen the already close ties between Cyprus and the United States, as well as its readiness to support constructively the efforts which aim to find a solution to the Cyprus problem.

On his part, President Anastasiades congratulated the new US administration and wished every success in their duties, affirming the will of the Government of Cyprus to further strengthen the bilateral relations between Cyprus and the USA in all fields.

The President of the Republic had the opportunity to brief Mr Pence on the current phase of the Cyprus problem and on the latest developments, stressing the determination of our side to continue the efforts with the aim to find a solution that will reunify Cyprus.
