The Play “Vee Perde” was Staged at EMU

Organized by the Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Social and Cultural Activities Directorate the two part comedy play titled Vee Perde was staged at the Rauf Raif Denktas Culture and Congress Centre at 19:30 on Wednesday, the 30th of October 2019. Accomplished thespians Yasemin Yalcin and Ilyas Ilbey who are also well known for their roles on television series’ were accompanied on stage by Kutay Sahin, Ortans Kivanc, Serdar Bordanaci, Merve Akaydin, Filiz Akin and Oben Onur. The play was performed in front of a capacity crowd comprised of EMU students and members of the general public.

The play adapted from Neil Simon’s Sunshine Boys made the audience laugh and think at the same time, telling the story two former comedians Cahide and Adnan who were forced to come together 22 years later for a television program. The play received a standing ovation and EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Necdet Osam and Vice Rector for Student Affairs Prof. Dr. Sonuc Zorlu Ogurlu presented Yasemin Yalcin a plaque and flowers at the end of the play.

Visit to EMU Rector

Before the play, the cast of Vee Perde visited EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Necdet Osam in his office. Vice Rector for Student Affairs Prof. Dr. Sonuc Zorlu Ogurlu was also present during the said visit. EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Necdet Osam thanked the cast of Vee Perde for coming to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) and sharing their beautiful play with theatre lovers in the region.
