The new Ambassador of the Republic to Vietnam presented his credentials

The new Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus to Vietnam, Mr Demetrios A. Theophylactou, presented his credentials, on the 8th of October, to the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, H.E. Mr Tran Dai Quang.

At the meeting that followed the accreditation ceremony, the discussion was focused on matters of common interest, ways of further enhancing the cooperation in the financial and trade sectors, as well as facilitating the contacts between the civil society of both countries.

The Vietnamese President extended warm personal wishes to the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr Nicos Anastasiades, for personal well being and for the prosperity of the people of Cyprus as a whole. He also invited President Anastasiades to pay an official visit to Vietnam. In return, the Cypriot Ambassador conveyed the personal wishes of the President of the Republic of Cyprus and expressed the willingness of the Government to strengthen cooperation with Vietnam, both bilaterally and in the context of international organisations.

The President of Vietnam expressed satisfaction at the large number of Vietnamese citizens residing and working in Cyprus, as they have a positive contribution in so far as bilateral relations are concerned.
