The National Guard`s armament programme continues and is being implemented with steady steps, according to the needs and individualities of the new operational environment, Minister of Defence Charalambos Petrides said on Saturday, adding that our ultimate goal remains the solution of the Cyprus problem by diplomatic means.
In a speech at an event in Liopetri Military Camp “Modestos Panteli” for the celebration of Agia Varvara Name Day, protector of the Artillery of the National Guard , the Minister honoured those who fell and send a prayer for the members of the Artillery Corps who came to the call of the homeland to defend its freedom and dignity.
The Ministry, he said, states that the upgrading of the operational capabilities of the artillery and other forces of the National Guard is a high priority.
