The Minister of Foreign Affairs signed the book of condolences for the passing of the Russian Ambassador in Ankara

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Ioannis Kasoulides, signed today the Book of Condolences, opened by the Embassy of Russia in Nicosia, for the passing away of the Ambassador of the Russian Federation in Ankara, Andrey Gennadyevich Karlov.

In his message of condolences, Minister Kasoulides wrote the following:

I was deeply shocked from the cowardly murder of Ambassador Karlov in Ankara, on Monday evening. On behalf of the people and the Government of the Republic of Cyprus, I wish to express our sincere condolences to the family of Ambassador Andrey Gennadyevich Karlov, to his fellow colleagues and to the people and the Government of the Russian Federation.

The inviolability and protection of diplomats is fundamental for the relations amongst states and this act of terror, perpetrated by a member of the security services of the host country, is condemnable in the strongest possible manner.
