The sustainable community “Gardens of the Future” has been selected as one of the finalists for the New European BauHaus Awards for 2022 and this is the only Cypriot participation in the list of finalists.

Dr Natasa Christou, Co-founder of the organization, told CNA that it is a great honor and an unexpected but completely justified and welcomed promotion of the community.

The European Commission examined 1.100 applicants and chose 55 finalists, to award the best and more innovative sustainable and green projects. Consequently, this is a recognition of the work that the “Gardens of the future” have put in during the past few years in Elpinikis Street in Nicosia, to promote sustainability and engage the local community in their activities, Dr Christou said.

The winner will receive a “golden ticket” for the European Commission’s sustainability expo in June and a 30.000-euro prize.

Dr Christou mentioned that the Commission allows the public to get to know the finalists online and vote for the winner.
