The EU 27 co-sign the Rome Declaration

The leaders of 27 member states, the President of the European Council, the European Parliament and the European Commission co – signed at 11:30 local time today, the historic Declaration for the Future of the European Union, during a Summit commemorating the 60 years passed from the original Treaty of Rome. Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades, who has been in Rome since yesterday to take part in the informal EU Summit, called today on the EU leaders to respect the commitments they undertook in signing the Declaration of Rome, with particular emphasis on the principle of solidarity and the implementation of the community acquis towards all member states, without exception.
