The Cyprus Dietetic and Nutrition Association says that 27.8% of Cypriots aged 20-80 are obese

The Cyprus Dietetic and Nutrition Association (CyDNA) said Friday in a press release that 27.8% of Cypriots aged 20-80 are obese.

On the occasion of the 15th Pancyprian Diet Day titled “Obesity Bullying” that is organised every year the 10th of May, the CyDNA says that the problem of obesity in Cyprus causes serious concern.

It adds that according to latest estimates, 29.6% of Cypriots aged 20-80 have a normal weight, 36.1% are in the overweight category and 27.8% are obese.

Regarding obesity bullying, it is noted that obese children are often targets of bullying.

In addition, it says that according to the World Health Organisation in 2021 there were 800 million obese persons worldwide.
