The Chairman of the Committee of Minister of the CoE Mr Ioannis Kasoulides will address the plenary of PACE, in Strasbourg

The Chairman of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Ioannis Kasoulides, will address on Monday, 24 April 2017, in Strasbourg, the Plenary of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE). Minister Kasoulides will brief the participants on the progress of the implementation of the priorities of the Cyprus Presidency of the Committee of Ministers of the Council, as well as on the developments since the last meeting of PACE in January 2017. The Minister of Foreign Affairs will also have meetings with the Council’s Secretary General, Mr ThorbjA�rn Jagland, and the President of PACE, Mr Pedro Agramunt. On the occasion of his visit in Strasbourg, Mr Kasoulides will sign, on behalf of the Republic of Cyprus, the Additional Protocol to the Council of Europe on the Prevention of Terrorism.

Then, Minister Kasoulides will travel to Brussels, where on 26 April 2017 he will attend a working lunch with the European Commissioner for Migration, Home Affairs and Citizenship, Mr Dimitris Avramopoulos. During the working lunch, the issue of entry visa of the European citizens to the USA in accordance with the recent decision of the European Parliament will be examined, as well as other issues related to migration. Following, Mr Kasoulides will depart for Luxembourg, where on Thursday, 27 April 2017, he will participate in the extraordinary meeting of the EU Council of General Affairs (GAC), in which the guidelines for Brexit will be exclusively reviewed.

Mr Kasoulides will then depart for Malta to participate on 28 April 2017 in the informal meeting of the EU Ministers of Foreign Affairs (Gymnich). Issues on the agenda will include, inter alia, the developments in Turkey and the implementation of the Union’s global strategy. On 29 April 2017, the Minister of Foreign Affairs will participate in the Informal Ministerial Meeting of the EU-South Regional Dialogue, organized by the Maltese Presidency of the Council of the EU in Valetta, with the participation of the Foreign Ministers of the countries of the EU, the Middle East, North Africa and the Gulf.

Minister Kasoulides returns to Cyprus on Sunday, 30 April 2017.
