Submerged bins to be installed in Larnaka’s sea front beginning of 2019

A total of 64 submerged bins will be installed in Larnakas sea front beginning of 2019.

The contracts between the Ministry of Environment and the company which will install the bins were signed on Thursday. According to a press release issued by Larnaka Municipality, the decision was taken in the framework of its strategy for reduction of solid waste from hotels and other places.

The Mayor Andreas Vyras said that bins will be placed in 16 spots at the Mackenzy area, Phinikoudes area and Tasos Mitsopoulos avenue and they are expected to solve the problem of pollution and smell especially in the summer months.

He added that Larnaka is especially sensitive in issues of recycle and waste management and participates in various actions in order to raise awareness for environmental issues, recycle, reduce of waste, energy saving and use of renewable energy sources.
