The Embassy of Slovakia and Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot parties will honour 8 Greek Cypriots and 8 Turkish Cypriots, members and supporters of “Together We Can” the Bicommunal Association of the Relatives of Missing Persons and Victims of war at a ceremony which will take place on Friday, August 4 2017 at 10.00 hours, at the Home for Cooperation, in Nicosia.

“Working voluntarily, without any local or international funding on the humanitarian issue of missing persons, members of this group have actively been helping to find information about the fate of missing persons, as well as trying to heal the wounds of the two communities from the traumas of the conflict,” a press release issued here today says.

This unique group, it adds, “a role model not only for Cyprus but for all the conflict areas of the world is showing the way of how communities should deal with their painful memories and heritage.”

It continues noting that “they are opening paths of true cooperation and trust, of peace and reconciliation among communities who have gone through the tragedies of war.”

“We will honour 8 Greek Cypriot and 8 Turkish Cypriot members and supporters of Together We Can as a symbol of appreciation of their humanity and devotion,” it says.
