National Defense Minister, Yacoub Sarraf, currently on an official visit to Cyprus, met on Friday with Cypriot House Speaker, Demetris Syllouris. Talks between the pair reportedly touched on the most recent local and regional developments, as well as on the means to boost bilateral ties, especially at the military level.

Sarraf also had an audience with his Cypriot Counterpart, Christoforos Fokaidis, over military ties and cooperation agreements between countries.

For his part, the Cypriot Minister lauded the Lebanese Army’s performance “which proved its robust capability of cementing peace and stability in Lebanon despite regional developments.”

He confirmed his country’s desire to continue cooperation with Lebanon.

In turn, Sarraf briefed his counterpart on the Lebanese Army’s endeavors at the Lebanese borders and all across the country, especially clamping down on terrorists in several Lebanese regions.

Both men also discussed the possibility of having Cyprus provide support to the Lebanese Army. In this framework, the Cypriot part expressed full willingness to extend the needed help and support.
