“? necklace that surrounds the city”, “a bridge that unites the historic city with the modern urban and commercial center” and “a reference point for the whole of Cyprus” were some of the descriptions attributed to the revamped Eleftheria Square, Nicosia’s central square, inaugurated Friday night after years of work.
The project bears the signature of the architectural office of Zaha Hadid, with architect Christos Passas undertaking the supervision of the completion of the technical and construction works.
The center of Nicosia, from a place of withering, is once again becoming the peak of growth of the capital, said in his speech during the ceremony the President of Cyprus, Nicos Anastasiades.
