Remarks of President Sisi and Prime Minister Tsipras on the Cyprus problem

The President of the Republic, Mr Nicos Anastasiades, the President of Egypt, Mr Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, and the Prime Minister of Greece, Mr Alexis Tsipras, gave today a joint press conference following the Trilateral Summit in Cairo.

With regard to the Cyprus problem, President Sisi, in his remarks to the Media, said that his country supports the reunification of Cyprus based on UN resolutions for a fair and peaceful solution.

On his part, Mr Tsipras said that in order to reach peace and stability in the Mediterranean today, a just and viable solution to the Cyprus problem is essential. A solution, which is based on UN decisions, and which will not include the maintaining of occupation troops in Cyprus and the anachronistic system of guarantees. Such a solution will benefit the entire Cyprus, he said.
