Probe on economy’s near collapse will take as long as necessary, Attorney General says

The ongoing criminal investigation on the near collapse of Cyprus economy in March 2013, will continue for as long as it is necessary, Attorney General Costas Clerides stressed, on Monday.

He was replying to journalists questions after a meeting with the Ukraines Attorney General Yuri Lutsenko, an official press release says.

Clerides said that a two day meeting had taken place with the police investigators during which a review of all the topics and cases was made.

The stage in which each cases investigation is right now was discussed and directions on the steps forward were given, he added.

Asked whether the investigation as a whole is approaching completion he stressed that “it will continue for as long as it takes.”.

He further clarified that the investigative work for certain cases is actually close to completion and their files have already or are expected to be sent over to the Legal Service in order to review whether any criminal offences have been committed.
