Presidential Commissioner and Greek Ambassador discuss missing persons of Cyprus

Presidential Commissioner Photis Photiou and new Greece’s Ambassador in Nicosia Ioannis Papameletiou discussed on Thursday, during a meeting, the issue of missing persons of Cyprus and the problems and challenges in the effort to ascertain their fate.

Photiou expressed his and the government’s gratitude for the longstanding support of Greece in the Republic of Cyprus’ efforts to deal with the problems and the consequences of the continued Turkish occupation of part of the island, a press release issued by the Commissioner’s office says.

Greece’s support and help is crucial particularly now when the occupying power creates new tensions and challenges by questioning Cyprus’ and Greece’s sovereign rights in the broader Eastern Mediterranean region, he noted.
