President receives credentials of new Ambassadors of Switzerland and Moldova

President of the Republic of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades received on Thursday the credentials of new Ambassadors to the Republic of Cyprus from Switzerland and Moldova.

Presenting his credentials, Ambassador of the Swiss Confederation to the Republic of Cyprus, Pierre-Yves Fux, expressed hope that “a reunification of Cyprus and the end of the occupation will become a reality in the near future”.

“I hope that Switzerland will once be remembered as the place that contributed to reaching a comprehensive solution to the division between Cyprus’ Greek and Turkish communities, and to their reconciliation”, he added.

Pierre-Yves Fux said that “as a European Country, which inherited the messages of the philosopher Zeno of Kition and of the Apostle Paul, Switzerland is aware of the very deep roots of its relations with Cyprus. In this spirit, we regard our cooperation in the study and preservation of your cultural heritage of utmost importance”.

Presenting his credentials, Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to the Republic of Cyprus, Anatolie Vangheli expressed the full support of his government on the territorial integrity, unity and sovereignty of the Republic of Cyprus and underlined that “we remain strongly committed to a viable and comprehensive settlement of this problem based on the United Nations resolutions, the international and European Union law, so that this conflict will know a fair, peaceful and viable solution, in the benefit of all Cypriot people and their harmonic co-existence”.

He expressed gratitude for the Republic of Cyprus “constant support towards resolving the ?ransnistrian conflict from my country, and especially for the recent support during the UN Assembly session on June 22, 2018 regarding the Complete and unconditional withdrawal of foreign military forces from the territory of the Republic of Moldova”.
