President of the Parliament receives delegation of expatriate AHIF students

President of the Parliament Demetris Syllouris received on Wednesday a ten-member delegation of expatriate students of the American Hellenic Institute Foundation (AHIF), a press release from the Parliament said.

The delegation is paying Cyprus its annual educational visit, accompanied by President and Executive Director of AHIF Nick Larigakis and its member Maria Wills.

Syllouris thanked the delegation and the Institute for their practical interest in Cyprus and its national issue and informed them about the ongoing developments in the Cyprus problem, the situation in the wider region of the Eastern Mediterranean and the Middle East and about Turkey’s violations of the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) of the Republic of Cyprus.

He also replied to questions raised by the students and underlined that the parliamentary diplomacy exercised by the House of Representatives, in addition to its active participation in international activities, helps to inform the legislative bodies of other countries, as well as international parliamentary organizations, about the need to exercise the necessary influence on Turkey in order to change its attitude on the Cyprus issue.
