President of Tajikistan stresses need for further development of ties with Cyprus

President of Tajikistan has stressed the need for further development of bilateral ties with Cyprus, especially in the fields of economy and tourism.

President Emomali Rahmon was speaking at the ceremony during which Ambassador of the Republic Cyprus to the Russian Federation, Leonidas S. Markides, presented his credentials as the new Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus to Tajikistan.

President Rahmon, in a brief speech after the presentation of credentials by 15 Foreign Ambassadors and referring to Tajikistan � Cyprus relations, underlined the good cooperation that exists between the two countries and stressed the need for further development, especially in the fields of economy and tourism, where Cyprus has achieved significant results, a press release by the Foreign Ministry says.

Meanwhile, in a separate meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs, Aslov Sirodjidin, Ambassador Markides briefed him on the latest developments in the Cyprus issue and exchanged views on issues related to bilateral relations.

Both sides agreed for the need to further strengthen them in all areas with particular emphasis on the political, investment and tourism sectors.
