The President of the Republic, Mr Nicos Anastasiades, will travel this evening to Cairo from Athens, where tomorrow, 11 October, he will participate in the Trilateral Summit of Cyprus, Greece and Egypt. Upon his arrival in Cairo, the President of the Republic will be welcomed by the Minister of Petroleum of Egypt, Mr Tarek El Mola.
At the Summit, which is the fourth consecutive one among the three countries, the President of the Republic will be accompanied by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Mr Ioannis Kasoulides, Energy, Mr Yiorgos Lakkotrypis, Transport, Mr Marios Demetriades, and Agriculture, Mr Nikos Kouyialis, as well as by the Government Spokesman, Mr Nikos Christodoulides.
In the morning of 11 October, the President of the Republic will have a bilateral meeting with the President of Egypt, Mr Abdel Fatah al Sisi, at the Presidential Palace in Cairo. President Sisi will also have a bilateral meeting with the Prime Minister of Greece, Mr Alexis Tsipras.
After the bilateral contacts, the three leaders will plant three olive trees in the garden of the Presidential Palace, as a token of the friendship and cooperation among the three countries.
Later on, the leaders will preside over extended talks with their respective delegations.
Following the Trilateral Meeting, the leaders will make remarks to the Media and a joint declaration on the results of the talks among the Governments of the three countries will be issued.
Afterwards, the President of Egypt will host a lunch in honour of President Anastasiades and the Prime Minister of Greece, Mr Alexis Tsipras.
Among the issues to be discussed at the Trilateral Meeting are Energy, regional developments, EU-Egypt relations, developments on the Cyprus problem, as well as the cooperation among the three countries in a number of areas, including agriculture, the environment, air transportations, sea transportations and commerce.
In the framework of the Trilateral Meeting, two Joint Declarations of Intention are expected to be signed among the three countries on issues of environmental protection, sea transport and recreation cruises.
In the morning of the 12th of October, the President of the Republic will have another bilateral meeting with President Sisi during which issues relating to regional developments, EU-Egypt relations, Energy and Economy will be discussed.
Within the framework of that meeting, it is expected that an Agreement on Air Transportation will be signed between the two countries.
The President of the Republic and the members of the Cypriot delegation will return to Cyprus on Wednesday, 12 October.
